Khalil Mack, Linebacker

Khalil Mack‘s season is a difficult one. He hasn’t had a bad season. He’s on pace for double-digit sacks (he currently has 5.5) and he’s just 13 tackles away from matching last season’s total of 47. Still, he hasn’t had the impact you expect from a great player like him.

A big reason for that is that he’s facing so many blockers. He is double-teamed on nearly every play, and when he gets away from that he usually has another player to contend with. Additionally, he isn’t getting much help from Leonard Floyd on the other side. Floyd isn’t getting away from one-on-ones so teams aren’t sending anyone else his way. That means Mack has a small village of blockers to get through.

As Ii mentioned, the Rams’ offensive line is really banged up. Mack will go up against players either new to the team or playing out of position (maybe both). He should have a better opportunity to create havoc in the Rams’ backfield. Goff should be running around for his life and, under pressure, he’ll give the Bears a chance at a few turnovers.

This is a big game for the Chicago Bears and Mack is a big game player. He should be in the Rams’ nightmares. This is a game where he needs to make an impact. If he does, the Bears’ defense will feast on the Rams and come away with a big victory.
