Green Bay Packers: Win-loss predictions for remainder of 2019 season
Week 16 at Vikings
Predictably given the weakness of the Packers run defense this season, Dalvin Cook absolutely gashed Green Bay when the two teams met back in Week 2. The Minnesota Vikings running back took 20 carries for 154 yards and a touchdown. However, the Packers were able to overcome that by picking Kirk Cousins off twice en route to a 21-16 win.
Since the loss to the Packers, though, Cousins has very much taken a step forward. Though he’s cooled off a bit, there was a midseason stretch where the $84-million-man looked like a potential MVP candidate with the way he was slinging the ball all over the yard. But when it comes to the Packers pass rush and talented defensive backs, they could indeed force him into mistakes once again.
More importantly for the rematch between these rivals, though, is that the Vikings defense has not been as impressive as we’re used to seeing from a Mike Zimmer coached team. In that first meeting, Aaron Rodgers had a cool 209 yards for two touchdowns while Aaron Jones had his way as well, rushing for 116 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. And again, this was early in the season before Green Bay’s offense fully hit their stride.
Though this game being in Minnesota makes things a little more interesting, the fact remains that the Packers are just a better football team by my estimation. More importantly, there seems to be more paths for the Vikings to falter in this matchup than for the Packers. Thus, Green Bay completes the season sweep of their division rivals.
Predicted Outcome: Win
