The Other Guys

No, I do not believe the Los Angeles Chargers will be moving on from Philip Rivers. But I do believe that the 2020 NFL Draft, which is viewed by many to be quite rich with quarterbacks, will usher in the changing of the guard for the future of the Chargers.

Chargers Pick: Justin Herbert

How about Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons? This team seems so long removed from their 2017 Super Bowl collapse that they are almost unrecognizable. Bill Belichick seriously broke them (though you’re not alone, he also broke Sean McVay and the Rams).

You can figure that they will move on from head coach Dan Quinn along with embattled general manager Thomas Dimitroff. And with a new regime in place, it may be time to get Matt Ryan some competition as well.

Falcons Pick: Jake Fromm

And what about the Steelers? Do they believe that Mason Rudolph is the guy to replace Big Ben? Will the new head coach — whoever that may be — in Washington want to continue with Dwayne Haskins or has he found himself in a “Josh Rosen” position? Is Matthew Stafford‘s ailing back going to allow him to continue to be the punching bag behind a never-improving Lions offensive line?

The NFL quarterback carousel is going to be moving in a bigger way than normal in the 2020 offseason and how things shake out could shape the league for next season and well beyond.
