Scouting Report. EDGE. Alton Robinson. player. 827. Pick Analysis. Syracuse. 2

So far, Trent Murphy hasn’t been the player the Bills thought they were signing a couple of seasons ago. He will also turn 30 years old during the 2020 season. Jerry Hughes starts opposite Murphy and he’s already 31 years old and hasn’t racked up as many sacks as he usually gets for Buffalo.

They also have Shaq Lawson, a former standout for the Clemson Tigers but he has yet to live up to his lofty draft status. All that being said, the Bills need to add another pass rusher, which they do here as they take Alton Robinson out of Syracuse.

Where Robinson really shines is with his combination of speed and football IQ, which is what Trevor Sikkema of The Draft Network says will make him a success in the NFL.

"“Robinson is a smart football player who does not get fooled twice very often. Speed rushing is his game, and it lines up well with what the NFL likes. He shows good burst off the snap and combines that with adequate bend around the edge.” — Sikkema, The Draft Network"

This season hasn’t been his best as Robinson has just three sacks and 30 tackles, but he has done enough in previous seasons to show he can get after the quarterback. A junior college transfer, Robinson had five sacks as a sophomore in 2017 and 10 as a junior in 2018.

He’s also forced five career fumbles and batted down five passes. Putting a guy with his speed on the same line as Ed Oliver almost feels unfair as it will be hard to keep up with the quickness they each have.
