The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers travel to Mexico City for a Monday Night Football clash. Bold predictions for the AFC West matchup.

There were a litany of wild results throughout the NFL in Week 10 but perhaps none were more shocking than the Kansas City Chiefs, a supposed Super Bowl favorite, blowing a lead at home to a middling Tennessee Titans team. That dropped Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to 6-4 on the year and brought about plenty of doubt and questions about this team.

On Monday Night Football from Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, the Chiefs will have the opportunity to answer those questions as they face the Los Angeles Chargers in a big AFC West matchup. This game has always been entertaining in years past, especially now that it’s Mahomes vs. Philip Rivers. And with the altitude juicing the passing games, things could be more fun — even if the Chargers are only 4-6 on the year.

But what is going to give on Monday as these clubs head south of the border? Will the Chiefs reignite their spark and get back to looking dominant before they go into their bye week? Or will the Chargers try to make a late push at a playoff spot?

To try and figure that out, let’s make five bold predictions for the Week 11 matchup and see where we land.

5. Mahomes tosses five touchdowns on Bolts

Patrick Mahomes made his return to the field last week after missing two games due to dislocating his kneecap against the Broncos. And despite suffering the loss to the Titans, the Chiefs star quarterback and reigning MVP was quite impressive.

On the day, Mahomes completed 36-of-50 passes for 446 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. And once again, this was just 24 days removed from a scary and clearly quite painful injury that was supposed to keep him out at least one week longer than he actually was out of action.

What’s interesting, though, is that the Chargers have actually been a quality pass defense this season, conceding only 223.5 passing yards per game to opponents on the year. However, they haven’t faced a player like Mahomes yet this season, especially in the altitude where the Chiefs signal-caller’s arm can be on full display.

Mahomes will end up with a performance arguably just as impressive as what he did last week (though he’d prefer the win, to be sure). While I’d venture to say that he’ll top 400 yards passing for the second straight week, the bold prediction definitively is that he’ll toss five balls into the end zone against rival LA.
