19. Jets earn third win in a row, make statement by defeating contender
One can only imagine how different things would be this season for the New York Jets if Sam Darnold weren’t forced to miss the beginning of the season due to mono, and despite playoffs being a long shot, the team is heating up at the right time.
Winning two games in a row for a team like the Jets is certainly impressive, but also keep in mind the wins came against two struggling teams in the New York Giants and Washington Redskins.
In other words, until the Jets beat a legitimate playoff contender, it’s going to be difficult to determine whether this team does, in fact, have what it takes to make a late surprise push, or if they’re going to be eliminated in the next couple of weeks.
Over the last few weeks, the Oakland Raiders have been making a case for a playoff spot in the AFC, and could even give the Kansas City Chiefs a run for their money when it comes to winning the division title.
Traveling across the country is never easy for any team, and if the Jets can use this factor along with a few others to their advantage, a win over the Raiders shouldn’t be ruled out for New York.
