Week 16 at Chargers

Few teams in the NFL have been as disappointing as the Los Angeles Chargers this season. Whether it was Melvin Gordon‘s holdout, a banged-up offensive line, a defense that has been lackluster or a litany of other potential issues, a team that seemed like a shoo-in to make the playoffs out of the AFC sits at just 4-6 on the season after a Week 11 loss to Kansas City.

Perhaps the most surprising issue for the Chargers this season has been the play of veteran quarterback Philip Rivers. In just the past two games, a loss to the Raiders and the Chiefs, Rivers has thrown seven interceptions. He has 14 on the season and his production has not been in line with how this team needs him to play.

Despite their issues, the Bolts played the Raiders tough in Oakland in Week 10 on Thursday Night Football with Gruden’s team needing an Erik Harris pick-six and a late touchdown drive to earn the 26-24 victory. But with that game being a weird Thursday night contest — a regularity for those games — I’m giving the Raiders the benefit of the doubt here.

Going on the road to Carson isn’t a difficult task as you could guess that the Raiders fans will out-number the Chargers for this game. As such, Oakland will go on the road and win their second straight game to keep their playoff hopes alive heading into the regular-season finale.

Predicted Outcome: Win
