Fantasy Football 2019: 10 Sleepers to start in Week 12
These fantasy football sleepers for the Week 12 slate can help your team make a playoff push with some critical players on their bye week.
The fantasy football playoffs are rapidly approaching. For some, it’s about three weeks away. For others that play in two-week rounds in the playoffs, they begin next week. That makes Week 12 an absolutely crucial week regardless of your league format as you can make a playoff push, try to avoid a last-place finish or something else.
Whether your fantasy football team is in dead last or in first place in your league, every decision from here on out in the fantasy season is a big one. With big-name players like Travis Kelce, Dalvin Cook, Tyreek Hill, Keenan Allen and Kyler Murray out on the last bye week of the season, you’ll need to replace them adequately.
Here are some sleepers who you can slot into your lineup and help you through the tough stretch.
10. Derrius Guice, RB, Redskins (vs. DET)
Derrius Guice has suffered multiple severe injuries in his two years as a pro that have kept him out of 24 out of 25 possible games in his brief career. But working with future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson for the past two seasons while working back from injury appears to have paid off. In his first game back, he had seven rushes for 24 yards and one reception for 45 yards and a touchdown, totaling 13 fantasy points.
While eight touches in his long-awaited return to game action don’t seem like anything to write home about, Guice’s speed and explosiveness was on display as he took a screen pass 45 yards to the house.
You also have to take into consideration that the game script didn’t go as planned because the Redskins trailed the entire game. But the fact that Guice looked like he hasn’t missed a beat is a great sign plus playing the Lions, who just gave up three touchdowns to the Cowboys running backs.
9. Mike Gesicki, TE, Dolphins (vs. CLE)
I know what you’re thinking, why is there a Dolphin here? Because, believe it or not, the Dolphins have been playing decent football of late, winning two out of their last three games. Mike Gesicki has been a consistent target for Ryan Fitzpatrick in this stretch.
Gesicki has gotten six or more targets in his last three games and in four of his last six games. It’s clear that the tight end has emerged as a favorite of Fitzpatrick in the passing attack.
Now facing the Browns in Week 12, who struggle to defend the pass, this looks like to be a great matchup and the best chance of a breakout game for Gesicki. If you have Travis Kelce or Kyle Rudolph out on bye this week, Gesicki is worth the shot in the dark.
