After the Week 11 debacle, the Chicago Bears try to get things back on track against the lowly New York Giants.

The Chicago Bears head into Week 12 with more drama than they’ve had for some time. At the end of their game last week against the Los Angeles Rams, the offense again struggled under Mitchell Trubisky‘s leadership.

The drama came on the Bears’ final drive when Chase Daniel came in for Trubisky. After hearing no official word from the team immediately after the change, people went wild with speculation. Then the team declared that Trubisky had a hip injury, a hip pointer to be exact.

The explanation just fueled all the conspiracy theories, most notably that Nagy and Pace have a difference of opinion on Trubisky and Nagy had enough. Nagy benched Trubisky and the Bears made up the hip injury excuse. Only the Bears brass and Trubisky know the truth, but perception is reality. If enough people believe that the injury was made up then it was, whether it’s actually true or not.

This will be an interesting offseason. There are reports that the Bears are considering bringing in a veteran quarterback to compete with Trubisky in 2020. The idea is that the competition makes Trubisky become a better quarterback. My retort to that is the Bears did that with the kicking position — how did that work out?

In Week 12 the Bears face the 2-8 New York Giants, who have another struggling defense. Trubisky and the Bears offense should look good. At this point, they need to look good. The season is bad and getting worse.

The playoffs are out of the picture so they need to at least stop the leaking and finish respectably. They cannot allow the losses to continue to pile up and finish with four or five wins. That would make a bad situation worse.

To avoid having that happen in Week 12, these five players need to step up and shine.
