Week 14 at Saints

Things don’t get easier for the San Francisco 49ers after the trip to Baltimore. They follow that up by heading to the Big Easy for a date with the Saints in Week 14. Drew Brees is back for New Orleans and, as well as the Niners secondary has performed this season, they don’t have an answer for Michael Thomas — because no one in the NFL has an answer for Michael Thomas.

Worsening the situation is that the New Orleans defense has been stout against the run this season, giving up only 85.3 rushing yards per game to opponents. That means Jimmy G will have to beat the Saints and duel with Brees. As good as Garoppolo can be, that’s not a favorable matchup for San Francisco if that’s what they need to win, especially in the Superdome.

Predicted Outcome: Loss

Week 15 vs. Falcons

Sitting at 10-3 and coming off of two-straight losses, the 49ers head back home to San Francisco in Week 15 and get a matchup they have to like. Though the Atlanta Falcons have been able to show signs of life in Weeks 10 and 11 with upset wins in the NFC South, this team still has a problematic defense on the year. Moreover, the offense relies on Matt Ryan to pretty much do everything.

The simple fact is that the Falcons aren’t going to have an answer for Kyle Shanahan’s offense — who should no doubt put a little extra juice in his gameplan as he faces his former employer. On top of that, the pressure that Bosa, Buckner and Ford can bring against a suspect Atlanta offensive line to rattle the passing game should give the 49ers a distinct advantage that will result in a big bounce-back victory.

Predicted Outcome: Win
