17. Carolina Panthers (16)

Heading into the month of November, the Carolina Panthers were considered one of the top contenders in the NFC since Kyle Allen had not only emerged out of nowhere as a reliable quarterback, but Christian McCaffrey was playing at an MVP level.

But on Sunday, the Panthers lost for the fourth time in five games after coming up short 34-31 against the New Orleans Saints, making it seem like Ron Rivera‘s team will be watching the playoffs from home once again this year.

What made Sunday’s loss even more frustrating for Carolina is Allen didn’t struggle like some of his recent performance after completing three touchdown passes, meaning the Panthers could be in for a difficult decision once the offseason arrives.

Even though the focus at the moment for the Panthers is making sure the team does whatever it takes during these final five weeks to find a way to sneak into the playoffs, Carolina needs to decide if they feel comfortable enough in sticking with Allen for the future.

Cam Newton has certainly been part of some great seasons over the years with the Panthers, but this year makes it seem like the team is ready to move on from the former No. 1 pick.
