Uniform of the Week: Baltimore Ravens

In a rare color-on-color matchup, the Ravens and Rams both rocked some glorious threads. In a shocking upset, I’ll take the purple Ravens over the yellow Rams. I’m just not a huge fan of all-yellow threads, even if the design is golden (no pun intended). Baltimore’s all-purple uniforms are complemented by the gold numbers with a clean, subtle white outline and black boldface.

Hands of the Week: Tyler Boyd

Boyd has been the lone bright spot in a horrendous offense. This one-arm (or one-bicep) snag while tightly covered is a beautiful combination of concentration and skill. Boyd’s ability to control the ball to the ground is an added bonus as well.

Stat of the Week: Jets and Saints

You know that saying, “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish”? Well, the Jets have scored on their opening drive in the last five games, while the Saints scored on their opening drive for the first time all season. In comparison, New York is 3-2 in the last five games and New Orleans is 4-1, though the Saints have had a better season overall.

Irony Award: New Orleans Saints

As the clock winded down in their game against Carolina, Panthers wide receiver Jarius Wright was contacted by Saints safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. After a challenge by Carolina coach Ron Rivera, pass interference was ruled. To be clear, New Orleans nearly lost on the same call that they helped institute. Talk about almost shooting yourself in the foot.

Legend Award: Frank Gore

Congratulations to Frank Gore, who passed the great Barry Sanders in third all-time in rushing yards. He hasn’t been his All-Pro self in recent years, but to say Gore isn’t reliable anymore is plain wrong.

Articles of the Week

Can anyone stop Lamar Jackson and the Ravens? Cody Williams doesn’t think so.

There’s no question that Aaron Rodgers is among the NFL’s best quarterbacks, but is he among the best fantasy quarterbacks? John Buhler isn’t too sure.

I said a couple of weeks ago that the Titans are quietly contending for the playoffs, and Cody Williams agrees with me.
