College Football Corner

While I don’t watch as much Saturday football as I do on Sunday, I still have plenty to say about all the happenings in college football. Here are some quick thoughts…

  • There really wasn’t much action in college football this weekend.
  • How is Ohio State ranked over LSU? LSU has beaten four top-10 opponents (at the time), including Alabama. The best team Ohio State beat is Penn State, the only top-10 foe they’ve faced. Come on.
  • After Oregon’s crushing loss, Alabama is now in my final four. 1. LSU, 2. Ohio State, 3. Clemson, 4. Alabama.
  • I know Alabama hasn’t played anyone good other than LSU, but I’d take them over Georgia in a heartbeat. A loss to LSU > A loss to South Carolina.
  • Who’s better: LSU and Georgia (Florida’s losses) or Ohio State and Minnesota (Penn State’s losses)? Based off of that, Florida should be ahead of Penn State
  • Also, Penn State’s best win was against Michigan. Florida’s best win was Auburn. Auburn > Michigan. It’s a lot of math that might be pointless, but it’s enough to convince me that Florida was a little robbed.
  • Chase Young is the most dominant defensive player I’ve ever seen.
  • I think Jake Fromm should stay at Georgia another year. It’s a deep class for quarterbacks and while it might not be any better next season, Fromm has some developing to do.
  • I almost forgot Appalachian State was ranked. Good for them.
  • The USC-UCLA game wasn’t the most thrilling, but it was the best looking. That uniform matchup was spectacular.
  • Speaking of UCLA, when will they become at least somewhat relevant under Chip Kelly?
  • It’s a great year to need running backs or wide receivers in the Draft. Each position is loaded with talent and depth.
