Following the New England Patriots falling on the road to the Houston Texans in Week 13, here are three studs and duds from the loss for the Patriots.

The New England Patriots have officially fallen from the top spot in the AFC standings through 13 weeks of action. Coming into Week 13, New England sat atop the conference standings while sitting near the top of the NFL with a record that consisted of just one loss in 12 contests.

While riding a two-game winning streak going into an AFC matchup on Sunday Night Football, the Patriots dropped a contest on the road to the Houston Texans on national television at NRG Stadium in Houston.

New England fell to Houston 28-22 despite trying to make a late-game comeback attempt, dropping its second game of the season and second road contest thus far in the 2019 campaign.

In the game, the Patriots fell behind early on and just couldn’t catch back up for the remainder of the game in Houston. New England fell behind 7-3 after one quarter at NRG Stadium on Sunday Night Football, eventually trailing 14-3 going into halftime against the Texans.

The Patriots outscored the Texans, 19-14, in the second half and recorded 13 points in the final quarter while trying to complete a comeback attempt. But that attempt fell short in the end and resulted in New England falling for the second time and seeing its winning streak come to a close.

With the loss, the Patriots fell to 10-2 overall on the season, although they remain ahead of the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins in the AFC East standings. New England, which was atop the AFC standings for the entire season to this point, dropped behind the Baltimore Ravens in the conference while holding onto the No. 2 seed going into Week 14.

The Patriots will return to action next weekend when they return back home to host the Kansas City Chiefs in Foxborough in what will be yet another important AFC showdown against the Chiefs.
