Miami Dolphins (3-9) at New York Jets (4-8)

Sunday, December 8, 1PM ET

I can’t believe I’m doing this. For the first time in 2019, I’m picking the Miami Dolphins to win a game. I know it’s against the similarly unimpressive New York Jets, but there’s just too much pointing in the Dolphins’ direction to go against them in Week 14.

Seriously, it just feels strange picking Miami. I vowed earlier in the year that I wouldn’t predict a victory for them until they proved they were worthy of it. Despite their two-game winning streak earlier in the season, I stayed persistent in picking against them. Now, following their third win against a decent Philadelphia Eagles squad, I can’t help but give them the nod.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has been working some of that signature magic, and DeVante Parker is playing like a legitimate No. 1 receiver. The Miami defense is also holding up its end of the bargain, giving up points but coming up with big plays and turnovers when they need to.

The Jets, on the other hand, haven’t played well this season. Sam Darnold seems to show up one week and disappear the next, and the defense is similarly bipolar. Even with home-field advantage, New York seems unlikely to best their AFC East rivals on Sunday.

Prediction: Dolphins win 27-23
