San Francisco 49ers (10-2) at New Orleans Saints (10-2)

Sunday, December 8, 1PM ET

I’m starting to think the San Francisco 49ers aren’t quite as good as folks were making them out to be. While that doesn’t mean they aren’t a force to be reckoned with, they aren’t nearly as invincible as fans were convinced of only a few weeks ago.

The New Orleans Saints will put that invincibility to the test on Sunday when they host the 49ers in what could be a battle for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. While I’m confident San Francisco will make Drew Brees and Co. work for every single yard they muster, I don’t think they have it in them to keep the Saints from securing another win.

Yes, the 49ers have a terrific defense. Yes, their offense is explosive (at times) and can crush teams when the ground game gets going. While that’s all good and well, the Saints may still be the better overall team. Apart from their Week 10 hiccup against the Falcons, they’ve been dominating down the stretch and seem destined to continue that trend in Week 14.

I foresee a small amount of scoring in this one, with both teams finding the end zone only once or twice. While the San Francisco defense does a great job of keeping Brees relatively contained, it’s the New Orleans defense that comes up with a key turnover to seal the deal at the end.

Prediction: Saints win 18-16
