4. Giants

Remember heading into October how the New York Giants were viewed by some as a potential sleeper team in the NFC after Daniel Jones won each of his first two games as a starter?

Replacing Eli Manning with a rookie quarterback in Jones was far from an easy decision at the time for Pat Shurmur, but at least the early experience should pay off in the long run for the Duke product.

With that being said, it is frustrating to consider that New York’s last win came all the way back at the end of September, as the Giants are coming off an eighth loss in a row while preparing for a tough Week 14 battle against a familiar face in the Philadelphia Eagles.

No one needs to explain just how much of a work in progress the Giants are as a team with all of their areas in need of improvement, and that could very well include Shurmur at head coach since he’s become quite comfortable on the hot seat over the last two months.

Even if New York could make the argument that Shurmur deserves some benefit of the doubt for New York going through a year of rebuilding, the Giants still should have been able to win a few more games.

Rivera isn’t going to solve all of the issues New York has been dealing with, but at least with his previous experience coaching defenses, this could help the Giants in a big way as well.
