College Football Corner
While I don’t watch as much Saturday football as I do on Sunday, I still have plenty to say about all the happenings in college football. Here are some quick thoughts.
- The Iron Bowl is an all-time great rivalry matchup. Shout out to Auburn for proving that Alabama is overrated.
- Aside from Ohio State and LSU, I think I can make a strong case for five or six teams to be in the top four.
- USC should fire Clay Helton.
- USF should hire Willie Taggart (again).
- FSU should want to hire James Franklin, but James Franklin should want to stay at Penn State.
- Outside of Florida and Georgia, the SEC East is not good. The team with the third-best record is Tennessee (7-5), who along with Kentucky (7-5), join UGA and UF as the only four teams to post winning records.
- I get why bowl games have assigned conferences, but does Virginia really deserve to be in the Orange Bowl? I admittedly haven’t followed them closely, though it seems their best opponent was No. 10 Notre Dame, whom beat UVA 35-20. Most of the games they’ve won haven’t been overly convincing, either.
- Iowa State’s Matt Campbell is a very underrated coach who deserved that five-year extension.
- That was a cool thing that Joe Burrow did by changing the name on his jersey to “Burreaux” for his senior walk-on.
- This tweet about the ending of the Ole Miss-Mississippi State game (where Ole Miss missed the extra point after their player was flagged for peeing like a dog after scoring touchdown) is golden.
For the first time in history, a team has literally pissed away a game.

- Just stare at that tweet and admire it for a bit longer.
