Denver Broncos: 3 Players that must shine vs. Texans in Week 14

2. Chris Harris Jr.

Another All-Pro defender needs to shine for Denver, this time it’s defensive back Chris Harris Jr. He has been the cornerstone of this secondary for years, and he’ll have to have a good performance against the Texans’ talented wide receiving corps.

The 30-year old corner has been under some scrutiny this year, as he plays out the final year of his contract. His play has definitely declined recently, having allowed many big plays this season.  Sports Illustrated‘s Erick Trickel had this to say:

"“There once was a streak where he didn’t allow a touchdown for more than 20 straight games, but he has allowed four of them this season.”"

Although Harris’ future is unknown, performing well these final four games will show the Broncos and the rest of the league that he still has it. What better way to display that, than by locking down DeAndre Hopkins.

The Houston Texans rank 10th in total offense, and Hopkins is second in the league in receptions with 86. Many consider him to be a top-five receiver in the league. Harris Jr. will see plenty of him this Sunday.

This Bronco secondary hasn’t allowed a quarterback to throw for over 300 yards all season long. That is a surprising statistic, especially when looking at some of their opponents this year, such as the Packers, Chiefs and Vikings. Some of this success has to be attributed to the four-time Pro Bowler, Harris.

Broncos fans can assume that he is looking forward to the challenge. It will be a matchup to look for throughout the game and could play a major role in the overall outcome.
