The Green Bay Packers head home to Lambeau Field for a Week 14 matchup against the Washington Redskins. Bold predictions for the Pack.

After a comfortable win over the New York Giants last Sunday in snowy conditions, the Green Bay Packers are back at home facing an NFC East opponent for the second consecutive week in the Washington Redskins.

With three-quarters of the season past us, the Packers currently stand at a respectable 9-3 record. With four games left in the regular season, Green Bay has one of the easiest remaining schedules statistically, including games against the Redskins, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions.

Of course, strength of schedule can be a bit misleading. The Packers’ remaining schedule may look easy on paper, but closing out games in December is a lot easier said than done, especially with three key matchups against fellow NFC North opponents. That said, the Packers control their own destiny in the North, and can actually still lose one more game as long as they finish 3-1 in the final four games.

As for Sunday’s matchup against Washington, the Packers should have no problem stopping the Redskins’ offense. Through 12 games, Washington ranks 32nd in total yards, 28th in yards per play, 32nd in first downs gained, 32nd in points scored, 32nd in passing yards, 31st in passing touchdowns, 32nd in yards per pass attempt, and 32nd in third-down conversions.

Translation? The Packers better hold the Redskins’ offense to minimal output. The key for Green Bay will be stopping the familiar face of Adrian Peterson and second-year runner Derrius Guice, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Carolina Panthers.

If the Packers can shut down Washington’s running game, it should be an easy victory. But nothing is given in the NFL. As they say, “On any given Sunday.” Here are five bold predictions for the Packers’ matchup against the Redskins.
