Buffalo Bills. Curtis Weaver. 25. player. 16. . EDGE

For virtually every 2020 NFL Mock Draft that I’ve constructed to this point in the season, I’ve had the Buffalo Bills dipping into the wide receiver pool. That still makes sense to me given the fact that Josh Allen needs more weapons to work with than John Brown and Cole Beasley. Having said that, the value at No. 25 isn’t there for the type of player I believe they need. Their stout defense, however, could use an upgrade on the edge.

Curtis Weaver out of Boise State could be a great add to the likes of Lorenzo Alexander and Jerry Hughes and what they do now. He’s a bit of a different build than both of those guys with a little more versatility while still being an effective pass-rusher off of the edge. Weaver would help keep the strength of this team strong by improving the depth and helping to build for the future around veterans as well.

47. . EDGE. New England Patriots. Terrell Lewis. 26. player

Considering that the New England Patriots have arguably been the best defense in the NFL this season, it might seem odd for them to take a defensive player with their first-round pick. Granted, the Pats are almost surely going to end up trading back and out of the first 32 selections. But if they were to stay, my belief is that their defense would be well served by adding a potentially elite player to help keep that unit playing at an elite level.

Prior to this season, the issue with Terrell Lewis has been health. He’s been ravaged by injuries throughout his time at Alabama but, now that he’s stayed on the field this season, he’s been arguably the most impressive player on their defense. His physical talent is elite and, though he’s not polished simply due to lack of experience because of his injuries, his upside is through the roof and he could thrive under Bill Belichick.
