Stud: Devonta Freeman

Devonta Freeman once again led the rushing attack on the ground for Atlanta throughout the course of the contest, leading the team in rushing yards that paired along nicely with the passing attack against Carolina.

The running back finished with 84 yards rushing and one touchdown with a total of 17 carries while averaging 4.9 yards per rush for Atlanta. Freeman also managed to haul in four catches for 10 yards within the passing game for the Falcons.

When healthy, Freeman has the ability to display to everyone why he is and should continue to be viewed as an important aspect to this Atlanta offense and that was on full display on Sunday afternoon in Atlanta.

Dud: Allowing chunk plays through the air

In the loss, the Panthers finished the game with a total of 288 yards passing and one touchdown through the air while being led by quarterback Kyle Allen under center. Leading the way for Carolina in the passing attack was D.J. Moore with 81 yards receiving and Christian McCaffrey with 77 yards through the air.

Overall, the Panthers were able to average 10.7 yards per catch in the contest, grabbing some large chunk plays that the Falcons couldn’t ultimately limit throughout the matchup.

That’s an area and aspect to the Atlanta defense to keep an eye on in the final few weeks of the regular season and we’ll see if the Falcons can improve that area of their game starting next weekend.
