As the NFL continues to expand into a more creative league, players with a diverse skill set possess value. Hence why a player like Colorado’s Laviska Shenault Jr. will have teams clamoring for him come draft day. The Buffaloes receiver didn’t have the same type of numbers he had as a sophomore. However, he’s much improved as an NFL prospect.

For example, the 6-2, 220-pound Shenault showed he’s much improved against press coverage. He can defeat press-man in more than one way, using his quick feet, suddenness and hand strength. Once he’s off the line, he does his best work in short areas and on underneath routes.

Despite his build and powerful play-style, he can stretch the field vertically. Defensive backs often play in off coverage in fear of his deep speed. While he doesn’t eat up the cushion, his ability to stack and accelerate makes him dangerous.

What stands out about Shenault is the magic he creates once he gets the ball in his hands. He has great vision, plays through contact and knows how to break or slip tackles. He’s also a prideful and dominant blocker. Whoever drafts him will have a boundary receiver who can lineup wherever they want, a true jack-of-all-trades, worthy of a first-round pick.
