New England Patriots: Studs and duds vs. Chiefs in Week 14
With the New England Patriots falling to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday evening in Week 14, here are three Patriots studs and duds from the loss.
The New England Patriots came into Week 14 in somewhat unfamiliar territory while returning back home to play in front of their home fans in Foxborough. The Patriots came into the fresh week of the 2019 regular season on Sunday evening coming off of falling for just the second time of the year in Week 13 on the road, looking to get back on track at home.
Following Week 14, however, New England once again saw itself in unfamiliar territory for the first time this season. The Patriots fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 23-16 in a big AFC showdown at Gillette Stadium, falling for the second straight game for the first time this season while also losing at home for the first time in the 2019 campaign.
New England got out to an early lead at home while appearing to be rolling early on in front of its home crowd, carrying a 7-3 lead into the second quarter in Foxborough. In the second quarter, however, Kansas City scored 17 unanswered points to grab a 20-7 advantage going into halftime at Gillette Stadium.
In the second half, the Patriots attempted to make a late-game comeback while outscoring the Chiefs 9-3 in the final two quarters, but New England wasn’t able to score the game-tying touchdown on fourth down in the final minutes of play on Sunday evening to fall at home for the first time in 2019.
With the loss, the Patriots fell to 10-3 overall on the year and have lost three of their last five contests going into Week 15. They do, however, still remain ahead of the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins in the AFC East standings.
New England returns to action next weekend in Week 15 of the regular season schedule when It travels to face off against a struggling Cincinnati Bengals squad on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati.
