The Philadelphia Eagles look to push to the top of the NFC East standings as they face the New York Giants. Bold predictions for Monday Night Football.

Last week seemed like a prime opportunity for the Philadelphia Eagles to make a move in the NFC East. Instead, Carson Wentz did his part but the Eagles defense did not as they dropped a disappointing game to move to an even more lackluster 5-7 on the season. Now they have another big chance before them as they face the 2-10 New York Giants on Monday Night Football to conclude Week 14.

The big story for the lowly Giants, aside from their flirtation with potentially getting the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is Eli Manning getting the start at quarterback on Monday night. With Daniel Jones injured after taking over since Week 3, Manning is back in the fold to take on a divisional opponent, perhaps for the last time with Big Blue (or at all).

Monday night’s matchup has shootout potential as both of these defenses have been bad. The problem with that, though, is that two inconsistent offenses need to show up for that happen. Moreover, the Eagles have yet to deliver in a favorable position over the past month or so.

Can the Philadelphia Eagles rebound from a horrid loss last week and tie the Cowboys atop the NFC East? Will Eli Manning turn back the clock one more time to help the New York Giants play spoiler? Here are five bold predictions for the Week 14 matchup on Monday Night Football.

5. Sanders fails to top 50 yards

In the loss to the Dolphins last week with Jordan Howard sidelined once again, Eagles rookie Miles Sanders took the bulk of the workload and performed well. The Penn State product took 17 carries for 83 yards while catching five balls for 22 yards and a touchdown.

With Howard looking like he won’t play again in Week 14, Sanders should see a good bit of work. And given that the Giants run defense is giving up close to 120 yards per game on the ground to opposing teams this season, that might make you think that Sanders is due for another big game. But I’m zigging the zag here.

Call it a gut feeling that may be based on Eli Manning’s return to the starting job but I see a pass-heavy game for both teams on Monday Night Football. And while that could mean work for Sanders there, I expect Philadelphia to attack the Giants corners and linebackers with wide receiver and tight ends. Thus, Sanders will put up a disappointing performance overall simply with his lack of work.
