Considering that the Green Bay Packers offensive line has often been considered a strength, seeing the second pick at that position might seem odd. However, while it’s necessary to take a tackle given the situation with Bulaga’s free agency, it’s also worthwhile for Gutekunst and the Pack to look at the interior where they could stand to upgrade over a player like Billy Turner and Yasir Durant is an interesting prospect in that regard.

Durant spent a lot of time at tackle with Missouri but his best tape came when he was at guard. His big issues on the outside are his lack of length and his wide steps, both of which can be mitigated by moving him inside. In terms of his power and punch though, he’s capable of succeeding at the NFL level and perhaps shoring up the interior in Green Bay.

The additions of Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith in free agency this past offseason have proven valuable for the Packers this season. That duo has been highly productive and successful in Green Bay. Meanwhile, Kyler Fackrell has done well in spelling those players but he’s a free agent after the 2019 season. That means that, if the Pack doesn’t re-sign him, they could be in need of some depth on the edge to go with the inside-outside threat of Rashan Gary.

Alex Highsmith is a prospect that’s hard to put your finger on. The Charlotte product has put production on the field throughout his college career with the 49ers and is clearly a fantastic athlete. However, he’s slight-framed, which means he needs to get stronger to be able to succeed at the NFL level. Even still, getting that type of athlete at this point is a move Green Bay shouldn’t hesitate to make.
