Dud: Hunter Henry

Tight end Hunter Henry did little during this game, finishing with two receptions for 29 yards. Nonexistent during the first half, Henry made his only grabs of Week 15 during the latter part of the game. Unfortunately for Henry, he committed a fumble on one of those catches after a tackle by linebacker Eric Kendricks. The ball was then recovered by Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes.

It’s the third game in a row in which Henry has had two receptions. While it’s easy to point at Philip Rivers to target the tight end more frequently, it’s hard to justify that reasoning when Henry clearly wasn’t able to keep possession of the ball after a tackle. More importantly, though, he just never seems to be open.

Stud: Keenan Allen

It was a strong outing for wide receiver Keenan Allen. Making excellent grabs and earning first downs when possible, Allen finished the game with nine receptions for 99 yards, a strong showing for the reliable veteran pass-catcher.

Despite inconsistent play and turnover-prone decisions made at the quarterback position, Allen has shown a knack for catching balls thrown his way and making great plays. He remains a receiver that Rivers can depend on. Although Allen has been unable to clear 100 receiving yards in a game since Week 3, Allen will have a shot to accomplish this feat next week in a matchup against the Oakland Raiders.
