Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6) at New York Jets (5-9)

Sunday, December 22, 1PM ET

Despite their lowly record, the New York Jets haven’t been a complete pushover in 2019. They’ve looked good at times, especially when Sam Darnold is on his game and the defense is being opportunistic. That means the Pittsburgh Steelers can’t come into this one off their guard.

With that said, I don’t think that’s the mindset the Steelers currently have. Especially after tripping up against the Bills on Sunday night, they need to keep the wins coming to ensure a postseason adventure. They’ve still got other clubs nipping at their heels for the final playoff spot in the AFC, so losing simply isn’t an option — especially with the Ravens on the docket in Week 17.

Luckily for Pittsburgh, I don’t see them slipping in Week 16. Develin Hodges has been a consistent force for the Steelers offense, and the defense is keeping opponents from putting big points on the board. Considering how lethargic the Jets have been in the scoring department, I don’t see them giving Pittsburgh too much of a run for their money.

I’m going to predict that this is a low-scoring game, with the Jets struggling to score at all. Neither offense gets much going, but the Pittsburgh defense’s success allows them to set up at least a couple of touchdowns. All is well in Steel City as they stay in strong playoff positioning.

Prediction: Steelers win 17-6
