10. QB Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers

2019 Salary: $23,000,000

Where he will sign: Indianapolis Colts

It’s time to admit that Philip Rivers is no longer the reliable starter he was for so long. This year has provided plenty of support for this assertion, between the untimely interceptions, turnover-laden outings and the all-too-often-occurring ineffectiveness.

With that in mind, the Chargers finally move on from the former No. 4 overall pick. It’s a strange thing to imagine, seeing as Rivers has spent his entire 16-year career with the Bolts, including the last 14 as the starter. As odd as it is, though, there’s just not enough oomph in the 37-year-old gunslinger’s arm anymore.

More than likely, Rivers won’t even catch on elsewhere as a starter. He’ll test the waters during free agency, and won’t meet much interest in his deteriorating game. If he doesn’t decide to simply call it a career, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him latch on with the Colts as one of the NFL’s top backups.

The Colts already have Jacoby Brissett as the starter, but took a significant step backward after his early-season injury. Rivers would provide a much better No. 2 than Brian Hoyer, and has a history of success under now-Indianapolis head coach Frank Reich. It just makes sense, especially since he can provide a potential replacement if Brissett continues to regress.
