Uniform of the Week: Los Angeles Chargers

The Steelers’ gold-accented uniforms and the Titans’ light blue uniforms drew heavy consideration in a down week for uniforms. Luckily, the Chargers never fail to disappoint. This week, it was their royal blue Color Rush threads that caught my eye for the better. No matter what uniform they trot out, the Chargers always look good.

Hands of the Week: Danny Amendola

I was unimpressed with this week’s hands-menship. Jason Witten’s one-handed snag was cool, but not too impressive. This diving grab by Danny Amendola caused the 5-11 receiver to go sailing through the air while being hounded by two defenders. Even with pass interference, Amendola managed to secure the ball.

Weekly Referee Screwup: Walt Anderson

This one might take the cake for 2019. By now, I’m sure you’ve all heard or seen what happened during the coin toss in Dallas. If not, here’s the bizarre video. At least the NFL corrected the situation by rightfully giving the Cowboys the ball to start the second half. Either way, this moment was so bad for Anderson and the referees, it feels more like an SNL skit than from an actual football game. This call was pretty bad, too.

Butterfingers Award: Carson Wentz

Wentz has the most fumbles since 2016 with 44, including 11 in the past five games. That’s not ideal for your “franchise” quarterback. In comparison, Wentz’s hands are an inch larger than Jared Goff’s hands, who’s had 35 fumbles in that time span. I’m not saying hand size is the main reason Wentz can’t hold onto a football well; it’s just something to think about.

Best Halftime Show: Cincinnati Bengals

I officially petition to replace the Pro Bowl with a game of mascots versus kids.

Nevermind, this is the Best Halftime Show: Los Angeles Chargers

If that doesn’t go through, then I’m totally fine with watching corgis run around for three-and-a-half hours. Now we know why people go to Chargers’ games…

Articles of the Week

The Bills punched their second ticket to the playoffs of the century, and Cody Williams thinks most of the praise should go to coach Sean McDermott.

Don’t look now, the Buccaneers have won five of their last six games. Despite all the injuries and the inconsistency at quarterback, Matt Conner explains why coach Bruce Arians has been a godsend for a struggling franchise.

NOTE: I finished this article before the Pro Bowl rosters were announced. I’m not one to get too worked up over a game that probably shouldn’t even exist, but if I have any thoughts, check them out on my Twitter @ZachCohenFB. (Reaching 400 followers would be a neat holiday present, too.)
