It’s become clear that Jason Garrett won’t be the coach for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. With him all but done, who will take over next year?

It looks as though it’s finally happening. Jason Garrett has been the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for pretty much this entire decade and has once again finished a season well below the team’s expectations.

They head into Week 17 with a record of 7-8 and just lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in game that could have clinched their playoff spot. Worse than the loss was the haphazard way they approached the game, as they came out looking unmotivated and bored.

Sadly, this has been a staple of Garrett’s team’s throughout his tenure, which is why the calls for his removal have hit a fever pitch. But who can replace him and take this team to the next level?

Not Happening: Sean Payton

For years, there have been dots connecting Sean Payton to the Dallas Cowboys. This goes back to his days as an offensive coordinator in Big D while working under Bill Parcells.

Payton ended up leaving Dallas ahead of 2006 and has gone on to coach the New Orleans Saints and has won roughly 63 percent of his games in 13 years and has a Super Bowl ring. Throughout all, it seems as though everyone wants him to come back to the Cowboys and teach them to win.

Now with Garrett heading out the door, the speculation will start again. But it shouldn’t.

Payton has no intention of leaving New Orleans and used the Cowboys reporter interest to gain another extension last season. There will be talks of giving up compensation but that’s not going to happen.

So, let’s move on to some guys who might actually be given a shot at coaching America’s Team.
