5. Kansas City Chiefs (5)

Normally, the Kansas City Chiefs are viewed as one of the top contenders in the AFC due to their high-powered offense led by Patrick Mahomes, but the defense could actually make this team Super Bowl bound when the time comes.

Just how good has the Chiefs’ defense been playing as of late? Not only has Kansas City won each of their last five games after defeating the Chicago Bears Sunday night, but the Chiefs as a team have allowed 17 points or less each time as well.

As long as the defense continues to play on this high of a level, and Mahomes takes advantage of the weapons he has to work with on offense, Kansas City seems capable of defeating any team standing in their way of a trip to Miami.

Even if the Chiefs were to face the Baltimore Ravens, the defense seems to be playing well enough where they seem capable of giving Lamar Jackson a run for his money, although that’s obviously easier said than done.

And who knows, maybe if Kansas City is lucky enough next weekend, they will find a potential way to squeeze into the No. 2 spot ahead of the New England Patriots, but also with the defending champions facing the Miami Dolphins, this seems unlikely.
