Los Angeles Chargers (5-10) at Kansas City Chiefs (11-4)

Sunday, December 29, 1PM ET

I’m sorry Chargers fans, but there’s no way your favorite team is going to win this game — not that it really matters. The Chiefs are one of the hottest squads in the NFL right now, as they’re rolling over opponents with ease. Expect more of the same in Week 17.

It’s not just the outstanding play of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense. Sure, the reigning MVP has been excellent in recent weeks, and targets like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are making his job all the easier. It’s also the Chiefs defense, which has been downright dominant down the stretch.

There’s just no way for Philip Rivers and the Chargers to compete with that. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they failed to score many points at all. If you thought Los Angeles’ performance against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15 was embarrassing, it could get even uglier against the Chiefs.

Kansas City doesn’t have a ton to play for, but a first-round bye is within reach of the New England Patriots stumble against the Miami Dolphins. That’s highly unlikely, but anything is possible in Week 17 when spoilers are out in full force. At least the Chiefs will do their part in bringing that to fruition by securing the 12th win of the season.

Prediction: Chiefs win 37-10
