NFL “Shopping” Lists

Unlike normal shopping lists, these lists consist of players that teams should start shopping around the league. In other words, teams should look to move on from these things.

Browns: Odell Beckham Jr.

When was the last time a team won the Super Bowl after trading for a star wide receiver? As I’ve said a million times, Beckham and Cleveland were never going to work out. Nothing keeps Beckham happy, and the Browns’ franchise is where happiness goes to die. It’s too bad that Cleveland won’t be able to recoup the value they gave up for Beckham. How many teams want to deal with this?

Buccaneers: Jameis Winston

Originally, I was supportive of bringing Winston back on a one-year “prove-it” deal. After seeing him toss four interceptions, including a costly game-opening pick-six, I’m more convinced than ever that Winston is a problem that can’t be fixed.

Chargers: Philip Rivers

Not that anyone will take a 38-year old quarterback, but Rivers’ time in a Chargers’ uniform has run dry. If you’ve never seen a Chargers’ game, I’ll sum it up real quick.

The Chargers play a close game that ultimately comes to down to one final drive where Rivers has more tantrums than completions. Seriously, all he seems to do is chuck it downfield to Mike Williams. If only Los Angeles had a younger, more mobile option sitting on their bench. (They do, it’s Tyrod Taylor. Don’t worry, most people forget that, too.)

Cardinals: David Johnson

This team can be dangerous after an offseason of development and tinkering. A year after extending him, I’m sad to report that David Johnson is no longer needed in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. The 28-year old is too expensive for a team that found success with Chase Edmonds and Kenyan Drake.

I’ve had a soft spot for Johnson ever since he carried my fantasy team to glory, and I hope he can bounce back from a horrendous second-half to the season. Unfortunately, Johnson has probably become expendable.
