As the New England Patriots hope to secure a playoff bye against the Dolphins in Week 17, here are three bold predictions for the AFC East champs on Sunday.

The New England Patriots will ride into the final game of the 2019 NFL regular season looking to officially claim their spot in the AFC playoff picture. The Patriots finish up in Week 17 by welcoming in AFC East opponent the Miami Dolphins into Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Sunday afternoon.

If New England is able to win as heavy favorites or if the Kansas City Chiefs fall to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, the Patriots will officially clinch the No. 2 seed in the AFC Playoffs before the win-or-go-home contests take place in about a week.

The Patriots are coming into the regular-season finale on Sunday having won two straight games after taking down the Buffalo Bills in Week 16 in Foxborough. New England claimed its 11th straight AFC East title with the victory, finishing the year ahead of the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and Dolphins once again in the division.

On the other side of the field on Sunday afternoon, New England hosts a Miami squad that is coming off of a 38-35 overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16 in Miami. The Dolphins, coming into the 2019 finale with a record of 4-11 overall, will finish at the bottom of the AFC East division behind the Patriots, Bills and Jets.

Before New England and Miami square off in the AFC East showdown at Gillette Stadium in Week 17 on Sunday afternoon, let’s make three bold predictions that will take place in the contest for the Patriots.
