AFC South Christmas Wishlist

Houston Texans: Draft picks

Since the Texans have locked up the AFC South going into Week 17, you have to believe that there is some merit to all the trades they’ve made this season with head coach Bill O’Brien serving as the de facto GM. However, this roster is far from perfect, yet they have no first, third or sixth-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, in addition to the capital they’ve already given up for 2021 as well.

If the Texans are who you pulled in Secret Santa, go ahead and get them some draft picks.

Indianapolis Colts: Andrew Luck’s return

As well as Jacoby Brissett performed before injuries absolutely decimated the Colts roster, there’s no escaping the fact that he’s not in the same ballpark as Andrew Luck. Brissett is a fine, mid-tier starter at best while Luck was a potential MVP candidate at his best. If Indianapolis could get anything they wanted this holiday season, it would certainly be Luck coming out of retirement.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Way out of the Foles contract

Whenever a rookie sixth-round pick outperforms a quarterback that you just signed to a massive contract in free agency, things are not in a good spot for your team. That’s especially true for a Jaguars franchise that is already severely strapped in terms of the salary cap. If the Jags were to get their Christmas wish, you have to believe it would be to get out of the Nick Foles deal and role with the substantially cheaper Gardner Minshew moving forward.

Tennessee Titans: Retroactively starting Ryan Tannehill from Week 1

When Marcus Mariota started the season for the Tennessee Titans, they looked as they always have with him at quarterback. They were limited offensively, despite the immense talent around him. Since moving to Ryan Tannehill, however, the Titans have gone 6-3 and have been competitive in every game.

If they’d started the former Dolphin since Week 1, you have to wonder if they would already have a playoff spot locked up going into Week 17 rather than facing a win-and-you’re-in scenario.
