NFC South Christmas Wishlist

Atlanta Falcons: Erased memory of Super Bowl LI

From the 28-3 lead jokes to the lack of success that’s followed, the Falcons’ loss to New England in Super Bowl LI has seemingly followed them around like a black cloud. They have been on a downward trend since that defeat and it does make you wonder that, if they could wipe that loss from the franchise’s collective memory, if it wouldn’t help them get back on track in a big way.

Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton’s 25-year old body

While it looked like Kyle Allen might be the answer and then after trotting rookie Will Grier out, it’s becoming more likely that Cam Newton might be Carolina’s best future at quarterback. If only he hadn’t been dealing with a multitude of injuries over the past couple of seasons and had his younger body to work with once again.

New Orleans Saints: Good playoff luck

To say that the Saints have gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to the postseason is to put it as mildly as possible. Whether it was being on the wrong end of the Minneapolis Miracle or the blown pass interference call against the Rams, some great New Orleans teams have experienced their share of misfortune. Here’s to hoping that, if they lose in the playoffs again, it’s not in such dramatically heartbreaking ways.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: A cap on Jameis Winston’s annual interceptions

Jameis Winston, with one week remaining in the regular season, is on track to have the most fitting quarterback season for what type of player he is. He’s on pace for just the fifth 5,200-yard passing season in NFL history while also creating the 30-touchdown, 30-interception club and having the Buccaneers finish either 7-9 or 8-8. It’s safe to say that, if Tampa had a 15-interception cap on their quarterback from some divine power, Winston might be able to lead them to glory.
