16. Darnold tosses for more than 400 yards for first time NFL career

One can only imagine how different this year would have been for the New York Jets if Sam Darnold didn’t deal with mono early on, but at least the future appears to be bright for the New York Jets quarterback.

Prior to selecting Darnold in the first round of the draft in 2018, the Jets were in desperate need of help at the quarterback position after failed attempts with numerous candidates.

Like most young quarterbacks, Darnold clearly has plenty to work on before he’s on the necessary level New York needs him to be in order to become a top contender in the AFC, but at least the progress continues to be there.

With the Jets entering the regular-season finale with a 6-9 record, New York could actually be in position to end 2019 on a high note with a win over the Buffalo Bills since the team is already a lock for the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoff picture.

All season, the defense of the Bills has been considered one of the best in the league, but if they happen to rest most of their starters, this could open up the doors for Darnold to be in for a big game.
