3. Dez Bryant, Wide Receiver

This one could be a little divisive. When the Dallas Cowboys released Dez Bryant ahead of the 2018 season, there was a lot of heated debate among the Cowboys fan base. There were those who felt as though the team did Bryant wrong in releasing him after he gave so much for the franchise. There was also a faction that said he needed to be released since his numbers dipped significantly after signing his contract in 2015.

To be fair, both sides had valid points. Bryant never managed to get 1,000-yards or double-digit touchdowns following the extension he signed that year — which came following a holdout. There were other factors that included injuries and a lack of chemistry with Dak Prescott in 2016 and 2017, but the numbers didn’t support his lofty salary.

As for the timing, the front office waited a very long time before cutting Bryant loose. They were trying to land another No. 1 receiver, which they never did, but in doing so they robbed Bryant of a chance to hit the open market during the prime free agency period.

Eventually, he found a home but a torn Achilles kept him from ever playing for the New Orleans Saints. Now, he’s saying he’s healthy and wants to play again in 2020, even saying he would do so in Big D.

Again, fans would likely be split on such a reunion. There are some who still don’t think Bryant can perform. There would also be a concern due to him not playing since 2017.

The other argument would be that Bryant is capable of being a star in the red zone for a team that could use a big-time player in that area. And at 31 years of age, seeing him make a comeback wouldn’t be far-fetched at all. And with some uncertainty surrounding Amari Cooper, there could be more reason to at least kick the tires.
