With the Chicago Bears turning their attention to improving for next season, cornerback is an area to target in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Now that the 2019 season is thankfully over, the Chicago Bears turn their attention to improving for the 2020 season. Some feel this season was a complete crap show and everyone should be fired or cut.

When you look deeper, however, things aren’t as dreadful as many think. There were only three games in which they lost by more than a touchdown and only one loss by double figures. Last season things were similar when all their losses were by less than a touchdown.

When you consider how close the Bears’ games were, you’ll see that there just needs to be some tweaking instead of wholesale changes.

One of the areas that likely needs some change is at cornerback. Prince Amukamara turns 31 before the season starts and he got burned too many times this season. Also, after recording 3 interceptions last season, he had none this season. In addition, if the Bears part ways with him they save $8 million in cap space. It doesn’t look like Amukamara returns in 2020.

With that being said, the Bears need to look for a replacement. They could go through free agency but that might be expensive and they have other areas to improve through free agency. Also, the Bears like Duke Shelley and may feel he’s ready to step up and start. There is also Kevin Toliver, but I think he’s more of a good backup who can play well in a pinch.

The crop of cornerback prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft is deep. Even if a few go in the first or second round, there will be plenty of available prospects later in the draft. Here are five prospects the Bears should consider.
