Chicago Bears: 5 Cornerbacks to target in 2020 NFL Draft
If you want a cornerback you can start your search at LSU, aka DBU. They have done a great job of providing cornerbacks to the NFL. Heck, Toliver is from LSU, he is contributing on the Chicago Bears elite defense, and he signed as an undrafted rookie free agent.
The latest graduate from DBU entering the NFL will be Kristian Fulton. He isn’t a flashy cornerback, though. He just goes about his business and does a great job on the field. He isn’t great at any one aspect of being a cornerback but he does a great job of making full use of his tools. You won’t notice how good of a player he is until you watch his film.
Terrell has great footwork at the line of scrimmage and that helps him stick to the receiver like glue. He alternates how he plays at the line. Sometimes he’ll use his hands to try to knock receivers off balance, while other times he mirrors them. He does a great job of aggressively harassing the receiver without going overboard and getting called for penalties.
Fulton is a big competitor when quarterbacks attack him. He’ll attack the football to try to separate the ball from the carrier.
In 2019, Fulton had only one interception but he had 13 passes defended. In 23 career games with the Tigers, he has 2 interceptions and 19 passes defended.
In 2017 the NCAA suspended Fulton for two years, accusing him of interfering with a drug test. He appealed and eventually won. This might still stick to him as NFL teams tend to stay away from any drug situations before prospects enter the draft. With a deep cornerback class, the Bears could pick up a first-round talent later in the draft.
Fulton isn’t a flashy cornerback but he does everything a team asks of him. He’d be a great addition to the Chicago Bears defense.
