AFC Championship: Kansas City Chiefs (2) at Baltimore Ravens (1)

I know, right!? Crazy to imagine the Chiefs knocking off everyone’s favorite to the win the AFC — and the Super Bowl. I admittedly tossed this one around quite a bit before deciding to go against the grain and predict that the Ravens fell short during the AFC Championship Game.

So you’re probably asking why. It’s reasonable. Here’s my answer: the Chiefs are the better team right now. In the NFL (and professional sports in general), the playoffs often come down to who gets hot at the right time. While the Ravens have been hot all year long, Kansas City is just catching fire and realizing their full potential as a team.

Mahomes and most of his playmakers are healthy. The Chiefs defense is playing some of the best defense we’ve seen from around the league all year long. Andy Reid is a phenomenal coach and somehow seems to be getting better as the years go by. All of the pieces are falling into place for a major upset.

Jackson will obviously do everything in his power to put the Ravens on top. And while I don’t doubt that he’s capable of pulling it off, football is a team sport. As hard as he tries, the Baltimore defense will bend a little too far, allowing Mahomes to flip his “elite” switch and secure the win in the clutch.

Prediction: Chiefs win 36-33
