4. Wide Receivers

On paper, the Eagles had a very good receiving corps at the start of the season. They had DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and one of the best tight end duos in the NFL with Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. But once the year began, they started dropping like flies due to injuries.

What once was one of the better receiver groups in the NFL has now become one of the worst. The Eagles receiving corps entering the Wild Card Round now consists of Arcega-Whiteside, Robert Davis, Deontay Burnett and former college quarterback Greg Ward.

Meanwhile, with Ertz also banged up, their tight ends consist of Dallas Godert and Josh Perkins. Nothing against any of these players but that is a downright depressing group of pass-catchers. I had hopes for Arcega-Whiteside as a rookie out of Stanford but he has fallen well short of those expectations.

One positive thing for the Eagles and their fans is that Jackson has a chance to play for Philadelphia again if they make it to the Divisional Round — but that is a big if. If the Eagles want to make it to the Divisional Round to even give themselves a chance at getting Jackson back, they are going to need to get some major help from their lackluster receiving corps.
