Philadelphia Eagles: 5 X-factors to making shocking Super Bowl run
By Lucas Schuh
1. Carson Wentz
We can talk about injuries and how poorly the defensive backs group has played this year, but the ultimate hope for the Eagles to make a dark horse Super Bowl run will rest on Carson Wentz‘s shoulders.
Even with the weakened receiving corps, Wentz still has the ability to get this team to the Big Game. Wentz has shown numerous times that he has the ability to be the best player on the field in a given week due to his canon for an arm and his ability to fit a football into windows few other people on the planet are able to.
Wentz flat out can take over a game when he’s on. But he also does not look like the player he has the potential to be at times. Even with healthy receivers, the Philadelphia signal-caller will sometimes overthrow his receivers, completely miss them wide and simply just not be on his game as a passer.
Even if Wentz isn’t able to bring the Eagles to the Super Bowl though, it will be hard to put the fault at his feet. This team is battered on both sides of the ball and with some of their star players out of the lineup. Ultimately though, if Carson Wentz can play like he is capable of, he will be able to bring this Eagles team to a Super Bowl.
