Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans: 5 Bold predictions for Wild Card Round
1. Bills get the win on the road
For the Buffalo Bills to go on the road in the Wild Card Round and beat the Houston Texans, they need a couple of things to go their way. No, they don’t need Josh Allen to play perfectly — though that wouldn’t hurt if he could play the role of hero. However, they do need to make life tough for Deshaun Watson and control the game on the ground.
Buffalo is capable of making both of those things happen. As talented as players like DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller (assuming he plays) are, the Bills have the defensive backs to hang with those guys long enough for their blitzes and exotic pass-rushes to attack the still-weak Texans offensive line.
Moreover, as we’ve already touched on with Singletary, the Bills have the ability to run the ball well with Singletary. But what could really be a game-changer is the mobility of Allen. If the quarterback can maintain his composure in at least a few key situations to escape pressure and take off for chunk-yardage plays, that’s a huge boom for the Buffalo offense.
I believe that’s what happens on Saturday afternoon at NRG Stadium. The Bills, despite their flaws, can exploit the flaws of the Texans just enough to grind out a tough win. This won’t be a shootout by any means but Buffalo should be able to put up 21-24 points and keep Houston under the 20-mark to pick up the victory.
