1. Re-sign Tom Brady

For perhaps the first time in his two-decade-long career, Tom Brady looked quite mortal this season. His throws looked like ducks far too often, he didn’t look comfortable and he just wasn’t the superstar that we’ve come accustomed to seeing. So after the playoff loss and with his contract coming up, there is talk that is time in New England might be coming up.

That should not be the case. All of the talk about Brady playing elsewhere in 2020 and perhaps beyond should be proved foolish by the end of the 2020 offseason as New England must bring him back. While taking a quarterback to grow as the heir to Brady is a fine strategy, the faults of the offense this season can’t all be put on the veteran signal-caller.

When the offensive line is playing with decreased effectiveness in front of a 40-plus-year old quarterback and the pass-catchers are not performing well or with the trust of Brady, how much can you truly expect from him? He’s not 30 years old anymore and does need some help to make things click at this point in his career. But the solution should not be to cut ties with him to fix that — it should be to fix the issues around him so to help Brady.

This might not be the most popular opinion but Tom Brady shouldn’t be going anywhere after this past season. He should be the Patriots quarterback until he chooses to hang up his cleats, which doesn’t appear to be the case now. Thus, bring him back and let it happen.
