NFL Playoff Bracket 2020: Divisional Round schedule, matchups set
Wild Card Weekend has now wrapped up, meaning the 2020 NFL Playoff bracket now moves forward to the Divisional Round where the schedule is set.
The 2020 NFL Playoffs kicked off with Wild Card Weekend, featuring two games on both Saturday and Sunday, coincidentally with the two games in the AFC being played first followed by the NFC contests on the second day. And with three of the four lower-seeded teams winning in the Wild Card Round, the Divisional Round is now set.
We’re down to eight teams in the 2020 NFL Playoffs, meaning that the Divisional Round will give fans their first look at the top-two seeds in each conference: the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers in the NFC and the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC. To put it as simply as possible, things are just getting started.
So how have things shaken out for the Divisional Round of the 2020 NFL Playoffs? Let’s take a look at the schedule and matchups for Round 2 of the postseason.
6 Minnesota Vikings at 1 San Francisco 49ers – NFC Divisional Round
Time: Saturday, Jan. 11, 4:35 p.m. ET – NBC
Suffice it to say that Mike Zimmer and the Minnesota Vikings have the number of the New Orleans Saints. Though Kirk Cousins and Dalvin Cook needed overtime, the No. 6 seed in the NFC was able to punch their Divisional Round ticket on Sunday afternoon. Now it’s a trip to the Bay Area to face the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers.
Minnesota’s defense slowed down an electric Saints offense but the task of slowing down the 49ers might be even more difficult. Jimmy Garoppolo and the rest of Kyle Shanahan’s offense have been cooking and, if that weren’t enough, Robert Saleh’s defense looks primed to harass Cousins for 60 minutes.
6 Tennessee Titans at 1 Baltimore Ravens – AFC Divisional Round
Time: Saturday, Jan. 11, 8:15 p.m. ET – CBS
Derrick Henry bulldozed his way over the Patriots on Saturday night in the Wild Card Round to send the New England dynasty into a tailspin as questions swirl about the future of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. But the Tennessee Titans future now features a date with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens in Baltimore.
Since Ryan Tannehill took over the Titans offense, they have been a completely different team and one of the best stories entering the NFL Playoffs. While that may be true, it remains to be seen if they can hang with the high-powered Ravens in a playoff atmosphere.
4 Houston Texans at 2 Kansas City Chiefs – AFC Divisional Round
Time: Sunday, Jan. 12, 3:05 p.m. ET – CBS
In the first half of their Wild Card matchup, Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans looked as if they were cooked. However, the quarterback summoned some of his trademark heroics and led his team back against the Bills, culminating ina fantastic overtime playmaking effort that gave Houston the victory.
Going on the road to Arrowhead Stadium to face Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs isn’t exactly the friendliest of consolation prizes. However, we’ll have to see if Watson can go blow-for-blow with his fellow first-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft.
5 Seattle Seahawks at 2 Green Bay Packers – NFC Divisional Round
Time: Sunday, Jan. 12, 6:40 p.m. ET – FOX
Going on the road and defeating the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday night, Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks punched a ticket to Lambeau Field for the Divisional Round. They’ll take on the NFC North champion Packers in Green Bay as the nightcap on Sunday for the second straight week.
With Aaron Rodgers and Wilson set to square off, we should see plenty of fireworks. However, given the injuries that Seattle continues to deal with, you have to wonder if the Seahawks have the juice to hang with the Packers in the frozen tundra.
