7. Tyler Johnson, WR, Minnesota

If you didn’t know the name Tyler Johnson from the Minnesota Golden Gophers, you should by now. On New Year’s Day, Johnson put on a clinic against the Auburn Tigers in the Outback Bowl. They tried but failed to stop Johnson, who finished the game catching 12 of 15 targets for 204 yards and two touchdowns.

Although his performance was historic, it’s not surprising coming from Johnson. He’s scored in all but three games this season, including a three-touchdown game against Georgia Southern in Week 3.

He also dominated the No. 17 ranked pass defense, Iowa, in Week 10 with 170 yards and a score. He capped off the year strong. In fact, Johnson has gone for over 100 yards and scored in each of the last seven games.

The 6-2, 205-pound receiver has a tenacious playing style. He’s physical at the line of scrimmage and while attacking the ball. When the ball is in the air, he displays good body control. He snaps off the top of routes and once he has the ball, he’s tough to bring down.

Johnson’s an ideal slot receiver who compares to Jarvis Landry in a bigger frame. He could become a volume target for any offense.
