Fantasy Focus

As the season rolls on, it’s only appropriate that every week I discuss a little about America’s new favorite past-time: Fantasy Football.

This will be the last time I include this section until the Summer, so I figured I’d use it as some time to reflect. If you don’t want to hear about my fantasy team, keep reading to see my thoughts on the latest in college football, which quarterback is one of the most polarizing prospects in the Draft, my weekly awards and more.

I never talked much about my fantasy team for a couple of reasons. First, most people prefer advice rather than updates on someone else’s team. Second, I think I’d feel like I was gloating a bit. Let’s face it, some of you might be close friends or family of me and I love that you’re here.

However, most of you might just want a quick read or some fantasy help, and that’s fine. Why should I spend time telling you about my team when I can potentially help you with yours? I already ranked a potential top-10 for next year’s fantasy season, so today I’m giving in and telling you about my fantasy team. My core players were:

  • QB: Lamar Jackson
  • RB: Alvin Kamara*, Aaron Jones, Miles Sanders
  • WR: Cooper Kupp, Tyler Lockett, DeVante Parker*, John Brown, Tyler Boyd*
  • TE: Travis Kelce
  • Towards the end of the season, I also rostered Mike Boone, Raheem Mostert, A.J. Brown and Ryan Tannehill.
  • I streamed my kickers and defenses each week.
  • Kamara, Parker and Boyd were products of trades that involved shipping away David Johnson, Terry McLaurin and D.J. Moore.

Throughout the season, it was my team and another team that were easily the league’s best. After losing only two games all season, a league-best, my team ultimately fell short by five points in the two-week championship.

If it were any other year, I might have been devastated. Luckily, I had done a really good job of whittling out the stress of fantasy football. While I would have preferred to come out on top, I had a fun time creating this roster and an even better time watching football every Sunday. However, I plan on coming back even stronger next year following such a dominant (yet fun) 2019 season.
