The Buffalo Bills tough loss in the Wild Card Round leaves them looking to the offseason, so how do they improve the roster in this 7-round 2020 mock draft?

For over 30 minutes of their Wild Card Round matchup, it appeared that the Buffalo Bills were living up to their billing as potential playoff sleepers. Josh Allen and the offense appeared to be in their best form while the defense had the clamps put on Deshaun Watson and the Texans. Then the second half and overtime came around.

Allen, in particular, completely folded under the pressure, fumbling on a key drive after Houston’s first touchdown of the game to give the Texans more points on the board and then making a number of highly questionable decisions down the stretch. Coupled with Watson turning into Superman, that allowed the Texans to claw back and force overtime.

In the extra frame, the Bills defense stepped up on the opening drive but Allen again could not deliver. That gave Watson one more chance and he answered the call with a highlight-reel escape from pressure that resulted in a huge gain to put Houston in range for the game-winning field goal.

Thus, a 10-6 regular season and a Wild Card berth in the AFC for the Bills ended in heartbreak as they’ll watch the remainder of the playoffs from home. There’s no doubt that general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott are building something impressive in Buffalo. But the Wild Card Round also showed that there is still work to be done.

Now entering their 2020 offseason, the Bills should continue that work of building their team. While getting Allen more offensive weapons is a priority, so too is continuing to improve the defense, especially with the retirement of Lorenzo Alexander. They need some help on both sides of the ball and the 2020 NFL Draft could be critical for this franchise.

So how should Buffalo operate in the draft? Let’s take an early look after their playoff exit with a 7-round 2020 mock draft for the Bills.
